Campbellsville University thanks you for your service to our country. CU's admissions requirements are the same for all prospective students. Applicants can apply for admission to our campus in one of two ways: either as a freshman or as a transfer student.

VA Educational Benefit Programs

Chapter 33

The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) helps you pay for school or cover expenses while you’re training for a job. If you have served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33).

Tuition and Fees are paid directly to the university based on the percentage you are covered for. Students also recieve direct deposits (stipends) from the VA each month based on their enrollment status to help cover the cost of books and housing. 

We serve as a proud member of the Yellow Ribbon Program.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the law that created the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. The Yellow Ribbon Program is available for Institutions of Higher Learning (degree granting institutions) in the U.S. or at a branch of such institution located outside the U.S. The program allows approved institutions of higher learning and the VA to partially or fully fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the established thresholds under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

Chapter 35

If you’re the child or spouse of a Veteran or service member who has died, is captured or missing, or is permanently and totally disabled due to a service-connected disability, you may be eligible for the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program. 

Students recieve direct deposits (stipends) from the VA each month based on their enrollment status. Students using Chapter 35 benefits are responsible for paying the balance on their student account. Chapter 31

If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) can help. This program—also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E—helps you explore employment options and address education or training needs. In some cases, your family members may also qualify for certain benefits.

Once you are approved to use Chapter 31 benefits, your VR&E Counselor will create a Purchase Order (PO). Please check with your VR&E Counselor for information on the covered expenses included on your PO. 

Chapter 30 - Active Duty

The Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty (MGIB-AD) can help you pay for education and training programs. If you’ve served at least 2 years on active duty, find out if you qualify for the MGIB-AD program.

Students recieve direct deposits (stipends) from the VA each month based on their enrollment status. Students using Chapter 1606 benefits are responsible for paying the balance on their student account. Chapter 1606 - Selected Reserve

The Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) program offers up to 36 months of education and training benefits. If you’re a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, or Air National Guard, you may be eligible for this benefit. Find out if you qualify.

1. Apply for benefits at va.gov. 

  • It can take the VA up to 30 days to make a decision. They will send their decision in a physical letter that is mailed to your home address you provide on the application. If accepted, you will recieve a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). 

2.  Apply for admission to Campbellsville University. 

3. After acceptance to CU, register for courses. 

4. Fill out the VA Tracking Form

Yes! The VA Student Helpline phone number is 1-888-442-4551. Please call this number for any questions regarding eligibility, payments, personal contact information updates, and any other questions you may have. 

Payment method is dependent on the VA Benefit you are currently utilizing. Please refer to the information at va.gov for your designated Chapter's information on payments. 

Active duty military member pursing their undergraduate degree online may be eligible for a reduced tuition of only $250 per credit hour. This includes Active duty, National Guard, and Reserve personnel. Eligible graduate degree online programs may be eligible for a reduced tuition of only $275 per credit hour. 

Yes, you can. We are required to report the net tuition cost to the VA after applying grants, scholarships, discounts, etc., that apply to tuition. The VA will pay the remaining balance based on the percentage you were approved for under the Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33). 

We are dedicared to helping military and veteran students find scholarship and financial aid opportunites. Students may qualify for additional federal and state veteran's education recources. 

The Post 9/11 GI Bill® does include a textbook stipend. Certain other programs may cover course materials. Contact our VA Certifications Officer, Shayla Atherton, for additional information.

Campbellsville University does not participate in advanced pay.
